P.s. While it might look like there are large crowds from afar, that's not actually the case. If you zoom in you'll notice that these "groups" are actually made up of individual families all on their way out the door as this was during park closing. For the most part, people are pretty good about social distancing.

Though disclaimer: Hollywood Studios is ALWAYS going to be the most crowded of any Disney park due to it's current popularity with Galaxy's Edge. If you're trying to avoid crowds (though still smaller by normal Disney capacity), simply avoid this park—especially on weekends.

We forgot there was a jungle around us. Slowly, the weight that built over our heads for 10 months started to lift. We laughed endlessly like we used to. We cheered with our arms up in the air again. The only thing we were scared of was whether or not the roller coaster was going to have too many twists and turns—and making sure to take the kids to the bathroom before we got in line. Washing our hands didn’t feel Iike a chore meant to save us from sudden death anymore, but a part of our routine. The masks on our faces were an accessory to keep us healthy instead of a suffocating burden meant to stop us from breathing in the toxic air surely meant to kill us all. And sure, our legs hurt from all the walking—but the pain reminds us of why and where we’ve been.

Maybe these feelings are only relative to where I live, as right now in Michigan almost everything is closed—or maybe it’s the pixie dust that hangs around this magical place—transporting all who enter its doors to a world—not just of fantasy—but one of hope and wonder.

I really do see the (albeit slow) end in sight. I see a light starting to creep up on us as we start to get more comfortable dealing with this as a part of our lives, rather than consuming it.

And I know you do too as many of you have messaged me saying you’d love to plan your own Disney trips soon. Feel free to message me any time—and don’t take my lack of response from this past week as fault on my professionalism. I’ve been busy laughing with my kids. ❤️

Today we feel happier, rejuvenated, and dare-I-say-it—healthier than when we arrived, as our mental states have been restored to at least somewhat what they were pre-pandemic.

Flashback to exactly one year ago and waking up at

Flashback to exactly one year ago and waking up at 5 AM to be at Hollywood Studios early to catch a Boarding Group for Rise of the Resistance—arguably Disney's best ride so far.

This is the only ride Disney doesn't allow a Fastpass or walk-up line for. There's a virtual queue in order to ride, and it's truly you and your luck whether or not you do due to it's popularity.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This time last year you'd still have to wake up super early to be in the park before opening (7 AM then) and be 𝑖𝑛𝑠𝑖𝑑𝑒 the entrance for the virtual queue to open to make a reservation for your party. So you can imagine the chaos of many people trying to do this at once.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
How did we do it? Well the kids didn't really mind waking up early in Disney World and were rip-raring to go and even finished breakfast by 6:15 (funny how on school days it's never this easy 😅). We factored in the 20-minute drive (and hundreds of other early birds also trying to get to Hollywood Studios) and did make it to the park before 7. But the chaotic scene that awaited us at the parking lot was one of hilarity, with people literally racing each other to the entrance. Once there we divided and conquered with hubby waiting in the stroller line with the kids while I got in the shortest one to get in and make our reservation.

And I successfully did! But in a show of hilarious irony the ride broke down during the day and we didn't get to ride after all🤦🏻‍♀️. But because Disney is superb, they usually offer some type of consolation when this happens.

So we'll just have to try our luck next time, inshallah.

Disney has since realized the craziness of this entire scenario and changed the process. Now anyone with a Park Pass can access the queue virtually (one good thing to come out of Covid) at 7 AM from anywhere—including the comfort of their hotel bed while their kiddos sleep—for about another 6 minutes that is 😆.
